The Mountain Checklist:

• Ridge Cap Integrity: Wind tunneling between ridges can lift ridge caps. Check for loose or cracked pieces.
• Flashing at Gables: The transition between your roof and vertical walls is where most mountain leaks start. Ensure the sealant is pliable, not cracked.
• Gutter Pitch: Heavy snow can slightly bend gutter hangers. Verify that water still flows toward the downspouts.
• Organic Growth: Moss and algae thrive in shaded mountain valleys. If you see green, it's time for a professional cleaning.
• Debris in Valleys: Pine needles and leaves trap moisture against shingles. Clear these to prevent rot.
